One of the most important things in the world to me is music. I never go anywhere without it. When traveling I am usually relegated to computer speakers or headphones. Sometimes I want the freedom of my ears free, and hands free and no worries about bulky items that take up precious space in my cargo. When you are crossing borders internationally, every amount of space is important. Airlines change from place to place on the weight allowance of your luggage and I have many times been on that line of moving from one bag to another to shed precious ounces that turn into pounds/kgs.
Product: (JBL) Clip 2 Portable Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
My Rating: 8 out of 10
This little speaker by JBL is small enough to limit my worry (about 5.5 inches across) and also has decent enough sound that I can expect to enjoy more than the piercing tinny sound that many little cheap speakers have. It has a rich sound that belies it’s small size. It has a clip to hang somewhere which is cool when staying at some place where I can clip to me, my bag , or something to limit the fact that I may leave it somewhere. It hooks up to your phone’s bluetooth and also has a cable with a mini plug albeit a short one. That I wish was longer. That is a negative for me as I don’t always want to drain power using bluetooth. But it does have a decent amount of time on a charge.
It is waterproof enough that for 30 minutes it can stay about a meter underwater. But it floats! Why would it be under water? I am just happy that I don’t have to worry about spills! At full volume it gets about 4 hrs of charge and the time increases as you turn it down. I have never used it for more than a couple of hours though, full disclosure. There seems to be about a 1.5 to 2 hour charge to full time. This can be paired with a second unit to get surround sound though I haven’t ran into someone with another and for me this is a personal sound unit. I like it for sitting somewhere relaxing not trying to run a party. There is a phone mic to have louder calls but also, I wouldn’t use it for that, though you may. It charges with a USB to mini USB cable.
- Pros: Light and portable (184 grams)
- Quality sound
- Decent time of charge (Up to 8 hours)
- The Carabiner clip
- Phone Speaker/Bluetooth
- Water Resistent
- Built in audio cable
- Decent Price for quality
- Cons: No indicator for charge time/time left
- Built in audio cable-rather it was free standing/easier to replace
- Audio cable is short for my taste
Folks I got lucky with this as it was given to me right out of the box by a family member who had no use for it and got it as a gift. I was searching for a decent mini speaker without going boom room size. I was about to buy one as the price and JBL rep to me are both good. The universe said here you are! Check out the product page for more here! Definitely a good buy for a little personal sound by the pool or in the hotel room relaxing in the eve! Get one for you or a loved one or a friend! A great gift for a traveler or anyone who wants sound without size!
